Battle Creek has fewer web firms than Kalamazoo, half an hour west, but the two based in the city sit at opposite ends of the scale. That makes the choice easier than it looks.
On West Michigan Avenue downtown, corePHP is a development company of more than thirty people. It is built for larger and more technical work: custom platforms, online stores, apps, and the hosting and support behind them. At the other end, Glenn Miller Media is a freelance WordPress designer who builds and redesigns small business sites and sets up the Google Business Profile that helps a local firm show up on the map.
Two more firms work here from nearby. Black Lab Five, a writing-led creative shop, has its address in Marshall. Blue Fire Media, a Portage studio, has a Battle Creek brand of its own. If none of them fits, the Kalamazoo and Portage page lists more than a dozen others a short drive away. Calhoun County has about 134,000 people, and plenty of Battle Creek businesses hire across that line.
